MEASURE

The MEASURE project is a collaboration between UCL, Imperial and the University of Cambridge, funded by the William Demant Foundation, and looking at assessing speech perception and listening effort in simulated realistic audio-visual environments. These are the project objectives:

•   To develop a simulated audio-visual environment that facilitates assessment of speech perception and listening effort in realistic conditions for hearing-impaired listeners.

•   To compare, and quantify the relationships between, different measures of listening effort, including cognitive-behavioural measures, such as recall of target speech, and physiological measures, such as pupillometry and cardiovascular pre-ejection period reactivity.

•   To examine the relationships between measures of listening effort and typical speech perception tests, focusing on comparing their utility for distinguishing between conditions of interest, such as different signal processing methods for enhancing speech for hearing-impaired listeners
